Work EnvironmentSt George Hospital and Health Services is part of the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District, the largest hospital in the district and a leading centre for trauma, emergency and a range of specialist services including cancer, critical care and women’s and children’s health care.
RoleProvide efficient and effective carpentry and building services under the supervision of the Leading Hand Carpenter, including inspecting, repairing and installing building and carpentry faults (walls, ceilings, doors, locks, windows, etc.) across the St George hospital campus.

- Experience in maintenance of large building complexes and hospital facilities; able to work as part of a team in a busy environment.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, experience with power tools and wood‑cutting machinery, and practice Safe Work Practices.
- Experience with gyprock wall repairs from report to paint, high‑standard carpentry and joinery work, strong organisational and time‑management skills, and ability to read and interpret shop drawings.
- Carpentry Trade qualification relevant to the role, preferably Cert III or IV in Carpentry & Joinery, Wall & Ceiling Lining or Fibrous Plastering & Plaster board.
- Current NSW Driver’s License (Class
C) and willingness to participate in an on‑call roster and be available for after‑hours and call backs. - Current Occupational Health and Safety General Induction for Construction in NSW Certificate and commitment to Work, Health and Safety.
- Proven ability to work with a multidisciplinary team of trade, non‑trade and contract staff in line with the Ministry of Health Code of Conduct, supporting harmonious and efficient maintenance delivery.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; willingness to learn computerized Building Management Systems; computer literacy in Microsoft Office.
