Infrastructure Technician

Fiber Construction | Entry Level | St. George, Utah

This is an on-site construction position based in St. George, Utah. Relocation costs are not covered.

Info West is an Internet service provider based in St. George, Utah, serving communities throughout southern and central Utah and Overton, Nevada, with reliable wireless and fiber-optic technology. We recently became a subsidiary of Boston Omaha Corporation (NYSE: BOC) and are rapidly expanding our fiber-optic network. As we grow our construction, marketing, and sales teams to support that expansion, we're looking to add to our fiber construction crew.

Our objective is simple: to provide the ultimate internet experience, one customer at a time. We're looking for someone who wants to help close the digital divide in our community and give more southern Utah households access to fast, reliable internet.

About the Role

This is an entry-level opportunity for someone interested in building a career as an infrastructure technician. Info West has built and maintained a growing fiber-optic network across southern Utah for over a decade, and our crews are out expanding it every day. You'll work alongside experienced foremen and technicians learning fiber construction, splicing, and tower work from the ground up.

What You'll Do Construction and Field Work
  • Perform general labor related to telecommunications construction as directed by your foreman or supervisor, including digging trenches and installing conduit, vaults, and pedestals.
  • Work on towers, following all required safety procedures.
  • Splice fiber optic cable.
  • Work safely around construction equipment such as bucket trucks and reel trailers.
  • Perform site clean-up, and restore and landscape any areas disturbed during construction.
Equipment and Vehicles
  • Install and maintain wired and wireless internet equipment.
  • Install battery backups and grounding systems for equipment.
  • Prepare equipment for jobs and maintain company-issued tools, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Drive company vehicles as needed.
Training and Safety
  • Attend training sessions and professional certification opportunities.
  • Attend safety meetings and training, and follow OSHA and all other applicable safety rules and company policies at all times.
  • Use all required safety equipment for the task at hand.
  • Work well both independently and as part of a team.
What You'll Need
  • Physical ability and willingness to climb towers while following all required safety procedures.
  • Comfortable working outside in all weather conditions, including high and low temperatures.
  • Experience using hand and power tools.
  • Basic AC/DC electrical skills; knowledge of low-voltage wiring is a plus.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with respect and courtesy toward teammates and customers.
  • Basic familiarity with personal computers and routers.
  • Willingness to take part in rotational on-call coverage.
  • Construction or customer service experience is a plus, but not required.
Working Conditions and Schedule
  • Primarily outdoor work in varying weather, with some indoor work.
  • 10-hour shifts, Monday through Thursday, generally 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional schedule changes may occur as projects require.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb and work from ladders, rooftops, and towers.
  • Ability to operate manual and mechanical equipment as needed.
  • Ability to work with or without direct supervision.
Education and Licensing
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required; CDL is a plus but not required.
  • Must pass a background check, MVR check, and drug screen.
