Resource Family Consultant / Kinship Caseworker I / Social Service Worker

These positions will be filled as a Caseworker I or Social Service Worker depending upon the qualifications of the applicant.

Key Responsibilities

The Resource Family Consultant (RFC) / Kinship Family Consultant (KFC) is responsible for providing supportive services to ensure caregivers can support a child in their care during Child Protective Services and Foster Care interventions. They will identify services and supports tailored to meet the needs of the caregiver and child to achieve agency best practices and permanency goals.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assess the strengths of resource families to determine the best placement for youth in care.
  • Provide ongoing support for licensed foster parents through visits, telephone contacts, attendance at Utah Foster Care (UFC) cluster/training, and home contacts.
  • Act as regional liaison to local foster parents and UFC.
  • Act as a regional liaison with the Office of Licensing (OL) to ensure licensed foster home standards are met.
  • Attend court hearings, family team meetings and cluster events to support providers.
  • Participate in the Home Study Committee.
  • Promote placement stability, placement transition, arrange respite services, and help prevent placement interruptions.
  • Address foster care providers’ questions and provide clarification in a timely manner.
  • Proactively work with all assigned foster care providers and update their information in SAFE.
  • Work with licensed foster parents, Utah Foster Care, and the Office of Licensing to ensure training requirements and license standards are met.
  • Proactively identify issues, challenges and trends regarding foster care provider recruitment and retention and provide practical solutions to the regional administrative team and state office program team.
Qualifications

Caseworker I (Pay $23.60)

  • Understands human development across the lifespan, and community resources, and can provide support and interventions in a culturally responsive way.
  • Is adept at interacting professionally with all levels of management while managing a diversified workload and challenging situations.
  • Deals with people in a manner that shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism.
  • Communicates effectively, clearly, and concisely verbally and in writing.
  • Has four years of full‑time education or professional work experience related to working with children, parents, and/or families, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Possesses a current valid Utah driver’s license.

Social Service Worker (Pay $26.21)

  • Holds an SSW or higher or higher licensure in good standing (required by statute UCA
    58-60-103).
  • Understands human development across the lifespan, and community resources, and can provide support and interventions in a culturally responsive way.
  • Is adept at interacting professionally with all levels of management while managing a diversified workload and challenging situations.
  • Deals with people in a manner that shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism.
  • Communicates effectively, clearly, and concisely verbally and in writing.
  • Has four years of professional work experience related to working with children, parents, and/or families or a combination of education and experience to equal four years.
  • Possesses a current valid Utah driver’s license.
