Lead Backend Engineer; Python​/Django

Overview

Web3 Energy Innovator is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to lead backend engineering for crypto-based energy solutions. The company is digitizing physical assets like solar farms and batteries through tokenization and smart contracts, building a programmable, capital-efficient platform for DeFi, institutional, and retail investors.

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of backend systems and APIs using Python
• Architect scalable, secure, and high-performance infrastructure to support crypto-based energy solutions
• Collaborate with product, frontend, and blockchain teams to define and deliver new features
• Own technical decision-making and guide backend engineering best practices across the team
• Drive code quality through code reviews, automated testing, and documentation
• Optimize backend systems for reliability, scalability, and performance in a fast-paced startup environment
• Stay current with emerging technologies in crypto, distributed systems, and backend architecture

• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience developing backend software applications in Python, ideally within SaaS, fintech, startup, or product-driven environments
• High ownership, detail-orientation, and a proactive, self-directed work style
• Experience with Django is preferred;
  Flask or FastAPI also acceptable
• Experience setting up CI/CD and managing cloud deployments
• Cloud experience with GCP or AWS
• Experience working with databases such as Postgres
• Experience building APIs and microservices
• Interest in crypto

• Previous experience at a crypto exchange or DeFi company
• Exposure to LLM workflows or other AI-native systems
• Node, Type Script, React experience
