As a Software Engineering Tech Lead, you will be the technical anchor of an engineering team building and operating our NEMT dispatching platform. You are a hands‑on engineer first, you set technical direction by writing code, designing systems, and raising the bar through reviews and mentorship. You partner closely with the Engineering Manager on team delivery while owning the architecture, technical roadmap, and engineering quality of your area.

You will spend roughly half your time deep in code and the other half on design, reviews, technical planning, and unblocking your teammates. This is a “first among equals” role: your influence comes from your craft, your judgment, and your ability to make the engineers around you better.

• Own the technical direction of your team’s area, architecture, key design decisions, and the technical roadmap, in partnership with the Engineering leadership and Product.
• Stay hands‑on (~50%+ of your time in code): build the hardest and most leveraged parts of the system, prototype new approaches, and set the example for what “good” looks like.
• Drive high‑quality, scalable, and maintainable solutions across both backend systems and client‑facing applications, with strong attention to performance, reliability, and security.
• Lead design reviews and provide rigorous, kind code reviews; mentor engineers on system design, debugging, testing, and operational thinking.
• Decompose ambiguous requirements into clear technical plans and crisp work breakdowns the team can execute against with confidence.
• Partner with cross‑functional engineering teams to coordinate integrations, API contracts, and architectural changes across the dispatching ecosystem and external partners (Uber, Lyft, local providers, health plans).
• Champion engineering excellence: automated testing (

  , incident response, and continuous improvement of the SDLC.
• Uphold our security and HIPAA compliance bar across design, development, testing, and deployment, ensuring data privacy is treated as a first‑class concern.

• At least 8 years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production systems  have a track record of leading non‑trivial technical initiatives end‑to‑end, from design through launch and operation.
• Deep, hands‑on proficiency in Node.js and Express for backend development, and React

  , and React Native on the front end, with strong command of Type Script . You have repeatedly integrated complex external APIs and third‑party services into production ecosystems.
• Practical experience designing and operating databases such as DynamoDB and PostgreSQL
