The Transportation Area Supervisor is responsible for the mapping, routing and coordination of district school bus routes, as well as the direction, training, work assignments and performance evaluations of bus drivers assigned to their area, including making recommendations for selection, retention and corrective discipline for bus drivers.
Essential Functions- Interviews, trains, and participates in hiring new drivers
- Participates in school conferences with parents, students, administrators, and drivers
- Frequent need to respond as substitute bus driver
- Work with digital cameras on buses
- Responsible for pre/post trip inspections
- Interact positively with office staff, drivers, and patrons
- Other duties as assigned
- Working knowledge of and ability to use mapping and routing software
- Strong computer skills required including Excel and Power‑Point presentations
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent or bachelor’s degree or higher.
- Must complete bus driver training and obtain Utah State Certificate
- Utah CDL with school bus endorsement
- Four years of successful school transportation experience.
- Two years of successful experience as a school bus driver.
Note:
The Administration reserves the right to require specific training for this position. However, depending upon the type and quality of prior experience, some exchanges can be made between training, education and experience.
- Must successfully complete courses to be an instructor in:
- coaching the school bus driver
- first aid
- CPR
- alcohol testing
- operation life saver
- Must become a State or District Certified Instructor for the Utah State Board of Education
- Routing
- Driver Supervision
- Training
- Parent Communication
- Requires both indoor and outdoor responsibilities (e.g. recess duty, gymnasium activities, etc.) in all types of weather and air quality.
- Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.

- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
- Must be able to move and lift under 100 lbs.
