- Reports To: Principal
- Compensation: Per negotiated contract, Licensed Salary Schedule
- Bargaining Unit: NWEA
- FTE: 0.50 FTE - works 4 hours per day; 20 hours per week
- Work Days: 192

General DutiesIn alignment with the NWRESD's mission statement, the Social Worker supports and advances the district's academic mission by delivering comprehensive services that strengthen partnerships among home, school, and community. This role focuses on identifying and addressing barriers that impact student learning by providing assessment, counseling, consultation, coordination of school and community resources, and program development. The Social Worker plays a key role in fostering a safe, supportive, and inclusive school environment.
By promoting understanding of students' social and emotional development and recognizing the influence of family dynamics, community context, and cultural diversity the Social Worker implements effective intervention strategies that enhance student well‑being and academic success. In collaboration with parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, and community partners, the Social Worker develops and implements strategies that encourage positive student engagement and strengthen overall school connectedness.
- Master's degree in Social Work or Counseling, required
- Current LCSW License, OR TSPC School Social Worker License, OR TSPC Restricted School Social Worker License OR be eligible for a Restricted School Social Worker License, OR current LPC License, OR LPC Registered Associate, OR TSPC School Counselor License
- Experience and/or training in direct mental health skill building and therapeutic interventions
- Ability to travel to school sites, community programs, and home visits to work with students, families and staff across four counties (Clatsop, Columbia, Tillamook, Washington)
- Valid Driver's License; available transportation and proof of auto insurance
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias
- Ability to exhibit professionalism and effective human relations
- Confer regularly with the immediate supervisor
- Proficient in the use of computers and internet-based applications, including but not limited to email, internet software, Google Suite, and word processing (MS Word)
- Ability to demonstrate effective skills in group facilitation, organizational dynamics, and consensus building
- Ability to advocate, model, and support implementation of district-level initiatives around racial equity and culturally responsive practices
- Ability to develop and implement professional development training for certified and classified school personnel
- Locate and mobilize school and community resources to support Early Intervention and Early Childhood Special Education programs and/or Social Emotional Learning School programs
- Collaborate with school staff to identify, determine, and implement appropriate therapeutic strategies to address identified social, emotional, and behavioral issues
- Serve as a liaison between families and the program to positively promote collaborative processes in educational planning for students by encouraging parent/guardian participation
- Serve on both program-based and system-wide committees to address climate, equity, educational issues, school adjustment problems, safety issues, social-emotional learning, and program development for students
- Participate as a member of the IFSP/IEP and other school-based teams to develop interventions for promoting students' academic success
- Conduct staff development on issues related to trauma, addiction, equity, needs of the students and families, and social-emotional-environmental factors that impact learning
- Serve as liaison between program, families, and community agencies
- Effectively utilize community resources to serve family and student needs
- Keep current on services provided by community resources
