Columbia 9-1-1 Communications District (C911CD
) is recruiting for hire and establishing an eligibility list for full-time Communications Specialists. C911CD
is the 9-1-1 Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) for Columbia County. We dispatch for all police, fire and medical agencies within our county. Additionally, we provide a variety of communication support for both public and private entities. The District is governed by a Board of Directors which consists of five elected members from throughout the county. C911CD
is a government agency, and employees are in the public sector.
- At least 18 years of age
- Steady under pressure and quick on the keyboard (35wpm+)
- Excellent multitasker and communicator
- High‑school diploma or GED
- Able to pass comprehensive background, psychological evaluation, medical & drug screening.
- Standard Shift: 4 consecutive 10-hour shifts
- Time Off: 3 consecutive days off per week
- Shifts May Include:
- Days, swings, or nights
- Weekends and holidays
- Overtime and occasional mandatory training on scheduled days off

RECRUITMENT TIMELINE:
Submit your application by the last day of the month to be considered for online testing held between the 1st–15th of the following month. Interviews and observational sessions are scheduled between the 16th and the end of the month. The full hiring process - including background checks, psychological and medical evaluations - typically takes up to 16 weeks. Final job offers are extended once all steps are successfully completed.
Note:
Applicants who do not successfully pass any portion of the hiring process must wait one (1) year from the date of disqualification before reapplying.
