Victims Assistance Volunteer Department or Program Overview:
The District Attorney's Victims Assistance Program assists victims of crime and helps them recover in the aftermath of their experience.
Our highly trained advocates are available to provide victims of crime with accurate information about their rights, the criminal justice system, advocacy services, and local resources. They coordinate with other community agencies to ensure continuity of support and make every effort to ensure crime victims are treated with dignity and respect, that their rights are honored, and they are informed throughout the criminal justice process.
General Statement of Duties:
Answering the phone and interacting with a diverse group of individuals.
Greet individuals that come into the office.
Work along side the District Attorney's Office.
Prepare victim letters, restitution requests and other documents.
Position
Reports To:
Victim's Assistance Administrator.
Qualifications:
Phone experience.
Experience using a computer, copier, and scanner.
Some knowledge about the criminal justice system is preferred.
Ability to maintain composure under high stress situations.
Expectations:
Be reliable, act responsibly and with integrity, hold confidentiality. Undertake trainings as required. Be courteous to individuals that come in for assistance, staff, and other volunteers.
Additional Training:
Volunteer Orientation training will be provided.
