The Bosch plant in St. Joseph has manufactured automotive brake components for more than 60 years. The plant specializes in products such as Hydro-Boost® Booster, Hydro-Max® Booster & Master Cylinder, Driveline Park Brake and Medium Heavy Truck ZOHT Disc Brake.

- Design and engineering for new/revised applications of the Hydro-Boost/Hydro-Max hydraulic brake boosters, associated brake master cylinders, disc brake calipers and driveline park brakes (drum brakes).
- Engineering development for on-going product improvement and cost reduction.
- Provide technical definition for cost studies.
- Manufacturing support.
- Perform dimensional stack-ups to assure compliance to design guidelines.
- Must work with the cross-functional team to assure designs can be manufactured and will meet quality and functional requirements.
- Create development plans and DFMEAs for associated assemblies and components.
- Direct designers in packaging studies and detailing drawings.
- Check/approve drawings prior to release.
- Coordinate engineering design changes and releases of prints and BOMs, using the drawing change system.
- Review, write and revise test specifications related to product requirements and testing.
- Direct technicians in development and product validation testing for new/revised designs.
- Document test results and analysis in formal test reports.
- Interface with customer and sales to assure compliance to customer requirements and needs.
- Be familiar with government brake regulations to assist customer in compliance of product design.
- Develop expertise in brake system design, including pedal feel, to assist customers with specifying appropriate booster specifications.
- Coordinate the building, test, and shipment of engineering prototypes to customers.
- Coordinate with suppliers on component development, issue resolution.
- Root cause analysis on product defects attributable to design.
- Quality support – production validation, annual certification, and Z-audit testing.
- Warranty support – assist with root cause investigations.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (BSME preferred).
- Knowledge of fluid mechanics, dynamics and controls a plus.
- Experience in automotive industry and brake products a plus.
- Familiarity with CAD, preferably Teamcenter NX a plus.
- Experience with practical use of statistics is a plus.
- Experience with GD&T is desired.
- Manufacturing process knowledge a plus.
- Must be able to work in a team environment.
- Proactive, customer, quality/problem solving oriented.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize among multiple tasks, and adapt to priority changes.
- Accountable.
- Strong work ethic and commitment to meeting deadlines.
- IATF 16949 knowledge related to engineering requirements a plus.
