About The Unit

The Critical Care Unit (CCU) is an 18‑bed mixed ICU managing adult surgical, trauma, neuro, medical, and cardiothoracic/vascular patients. Nurse‑to‑patient ratio is 1:2 and is adjusted for acuity throughout the shift. Residents and attendings are present for both shifts to support continued medical care and treatment.

This is a weekend program that requires working 48 out of 52 weekends in various locations within the system. Weekend shifts run from 3:00 p.m. Friday to 7:30 a.m. Monday, though specific times may vary. The RN utilizes the ANA scope of practice and the nursing process to deliver patient‑family centered care, including assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and discharge, under the direction of the Nurse Leader and Corewell Health policies.

• Associate’s in Nursing or Bachelor’s in Nursing within 5 years
• Must have graduated from an accredited nursing program or, if from a non‑accredited school, at least one year of acute‑care experience or two years in a licensed health‑care role and have passed the NCLEX
• 2+ years of acute‑care RN experience
• MI Registered Nurse (RN)
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days
• AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days
• NIH Stroke Certification (NIHSS) within 90 days
