Shift: Every weekend – Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; 7a.m. to 7:30p.m. This is a Weekend Program consisting of working 48 out of 52 weekends in various locations throughout the system as needs arise. The weekend is defined as shifts between the hours of 3:00p.m. Friday and 7:30a.m. Monday. However, specific times may vary according to location and need.
Unit OverviewThis unit is a 30‑bed Cardiac Progressive Unit specializing in caring for post‑CVL procedure patients, cardiac patients, CHF, respiratory patients that include high‑flow 02 and chest pain/observation patients. Our department is a certified stroke center and chest pain unit. We serve patients of all ages with a wide variety of complaints. Nurse‑to‑patient ratio is 4‑5:1 on days and 5‑6 patients on nights.
We consistently have high patient satisfaction and quality scores and are a friendly progressive group of great nurses and techs.
The RN, under the ANA scope of practice, utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient‑family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures and recognizes the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes.
The RN partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning the plan of care and develops teaching strategies for patient/family; documents education and learning appropriately in the health record.
Provide comprehensive nursing care to a unit of diverse cardiac and respiratory patients, including post‑procedure, CHF, and chest pain/observation cases. Collaborate with the interprofessional team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans. Educate patients and families and document all interventions and outcomes in the electronic health record.
Qualifications- Associate’s degree in Nursing or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing within the past 5 years.
- Graduates from a non‑accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role.
- Must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
- Valid Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days.
- AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 1 year.
- NIH Stroke Certification – NIH Stroke Scale within 90 days.
