Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described by the professional nursing standards. Demonstrates competency through the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance, including ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, and research. Strives to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Education:
Associate's Degree in Nursing is required. Bachelor's Degree in Science in Nursing must be obtained within specific time frames based on start date.
Essential Functions:
Provides evidence-based nursing care consistent with the interprofessional plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures. Communicates and collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to ensure continuity and coordination of care. Acts as a patient/family advocate and performs necessary point of care testing. Demonstrates a high standard of moral, ethical, and culturally sensitive behavior. Formulates decisions based on ethical principles, using the nursing code of ethics to guide practice.
Advocates for privacy, confidentiality, and security of patient and organizational data. Assesses the needs of the patient/family and analyzes assessment data for potential diagnoses or issues. Identifies expected outcomes and develops individualized interprofessional plans of care. Evaluates patient and family educational needs and employs appropriate teaching strategies. Initiates patient discharge planning and facilitates a smooth transition to the next point of service.
Ensures required documentation is performed accurately and timely. Assumes a leadership role and appropriately delegates tasks to unlicensed personnel. Engages in ongoing professional development and participates in quality improvement activities. Actively participates in safety initiatives and completes all required safety competencies. Performs other duties as assigned.
