Manufacturing Controller – St. Louis, MO
Our client is a rapidly growing St. Louis-based manufacturing company seeking a hands-on Controller to lead and oversee accounting and financial operations. This is a high-visibility position reporting directly to ownership, with the opportunity to play a key role in the company’s continued growth.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong manufacturing accounting background, particularly in cost accounting, inventory, and operational finance. This individual must be comfortable both doing the work and supervising others, while also providing strategic financial guidance to ownership.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and oversee day-to-day accounting and financial operations
- Manage and supervise accounting staff and ensure accurate, timely reporting
- Oversee cost accounting, inventory accounting, and manufacturing-related financial analysis
- Monitor inventory levels, valuation, costs, and variances
- Analyze manufacturing costs, margins, and operational performance
- Prepare and review financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and management reports
- Develop and improve accounting processes, controls, and procedures
- Partner with operations and ownership to identify opportunities for improved profitability and efficiency
- Provide meaningful financial analysis and recommendations to support business decisions
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data within the ERP system
- Take a hands-on approach and step in to perform accounting functions when needed
- Strong accounting experience within a manufacturing environment
- Proven experience with cost accounting and inventory
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA preferred
- Strong Excel skills, including the ability to analyze and manipulate large data sets
- Strong ERP system experience; manufacturing ERP experience is highly desirable
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities
- Proactive, confident, and strategic approach to business and financial issues
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
