Financial Aid Coordinator

The Financial Aid Coordinator performs technical specialized duties in the administration of student financial assistance programs, following all relevant federal regulations and institutional policies. Essential duties include providing excellent customer service to all applicants, their families, and members of the community. The coordinator assists students and prospective students with completing financial aid applications and provides guidance in locating additional financial resources.

They compare FAFSA applications with documentation collected from students, identify and resolve discrepant information, and utilize federal data systems to update student records. The coordinator retrieves ISIR files from the Department of Education, codes and formats files into Banner, batch posts, and posts tracking requirements based on the ISIR file. They award, document, and track departmental and Foundation scholarships and each student's federal financial aid for each semester, notifying students of what financial aid they will be receiving for the upcoming semester.

Knowledge of federal, state, and institutional aid programs, tax laws, financial aid websites, and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs are required. The coordinator must be an organized thinker with exceptional attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and strong customer service skills.

Required qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and one to three years of financial aid, customer service, or related experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Preferred qualifications include a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.

Physical demands include general office conditions, moderate noise levels, and the ability to use close vision, talk, hear, sit, stand, bend at the knee and waist, and walk. The coordinator must have repetitive wrist, hand, and finger movement to type and work on computer, and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination to work on computer, telephone, and related office equipment. Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.

The Financial Aid Coordinator may assist other coordinators with processes related to the administration of scholarships, grants, loans, and third party aid. Continual participation in compliance webinars, conferences, and training is required to successfully perform job duties. Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
