Position: Homebound Special Education Teacher - 2026-2027

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor's degree in Special Education. 1 to 3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in educational settings. State certification in Teaching.

Direct Report: Director of Special Programs

Terms of Employment: 9 Month

Eligible for emergency telework: Yes

Purpose: Assists students placed on medical homebound by taking assigned work to student homes, helping students to complete their assignments, and returning completed work to the school.

Essential Job Functions
  • Attend work in a regular, reliable and punctual manner
  • To "telework" when requested by the District.
  • Assist students with homework assignments covering a variety of school subjects.
  • Provide goal work to support student IEP goals
  • Maintain records in Sped Track in relation to goal progress
  • Ensure that students receive their assigned work on time and that completed work is returned to teachers in a timely manner.
  • Develop strategies for motivating students to complete unfinished work assignments.
  • Attend professional development activities to remain on top of new and enhanced policies.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office and other basic computer software.
  • Ability to keep students on task, even when students are unmotivated to complete work activities.
  • Familiarity with all academic subjects that students may need assistance with.
  • Talk and listen to students, teachers, and other individuals on a regular basis.
  • Stand and walk around SJSD facilities and student homes; drive between student homes and facilities to perform job duties.
  • Lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Other duties assigned.
