Job Summary:

In the MoWest Center for Academic Support, content tutoring refers to tutoring for subject areas other than general‑study mathematics or writing. Candidates are hired based on their knowledge of the discipline(s).

• Attend a one‑hour tutor training
• Enter and update availability on Tutor Trac throughout the semester to allow students to schedule tutoring appointments
• Meet and tutor students on course material
• Maintain ongoing communication with the Content Tutor Coordinator and discuss problems or potential problems as needed
• Review course notes, textbook, and other materials as needed to maintain necessary knowledge of the content

• Degree‑seeking
• Enrolled at least part‑time
• Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Received an A or B in the course the applicant is interested in tutoring
• Recommendation from the professor who teaches or has taught the course

• Preference for applicants who received an A in the course
• Applicants eligible for Federal Work Study are encouraged

Sen­t­en­t­ary work:
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Additional demands include possible online tutoring; the tutor must have a stable internet connection and a device with working camera, microphone, and speakers. Tutors will be hired throughout the academic year based on tutoring requests.

Hours per week will vary based on student demand, up to 5 hours per week.
