Position Title

Math Coordinator

Job Description

The Math Coordinator will coordinate tutorial services offered in the Center for Academic Support (CAS), supervise all math services, and manage the CAS database.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Coordinate math services offered by the Center for Academic Support; hire, train, supervise, and evaluate math tutors; provide individual and group tutoring in math as needed.
  • Assist the Director and other coordinators with the operation and administration of the Center, including, but not limited to, covering the front desk, approving student employee timesheets, and advertising the services offered in the Center.
  • Serve as liaison between the Center and the Math department; collaborate with faculty and staff to coordinate and implement new services to meet the academic needs of students.
  • Manage the Center’s online scheduling system, Trac Cloud, communicating as necessary with the I.T. department and Trac Cloud’s parent company, Redrock Software.
  • Manage Trac Cloud user access across campus departments, provide training for staff and students, and oversee tutor and student schedules within the system.
  • Maintain CAS database and website, assist with data collection for special populations or university programs, and distribute center usage reports to academic departments.
  • Plan and lead educational workshops, develop educational resources, as required. Develop workshops for a variety of student groups; prepare and make presentations for Registration Days, Griffon Edge and other on-campus organizations.
  • Teach one (three credit hour) general studies mathematics course in Fall and Spring semesters based on department need.
  • Maintain professional contacts and an awareness of practices and standards in the learning center field; stay current with relevant research.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of teaching and tutoring skills.
  • Good supervisory and management skills.
  • Proficient in computer software and programs, and the ability to maintain the Center’s website.
  • Organized thinker with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.
Required Qualifications
  • This position requires a Master’s Degree in Math or Math Education.
  • Must have one to three years of experience in teaching and/or tutoring.
  • Must have a minimum of 18 hours of graduate work in mathematics.
Preferred Qualifications
  • College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) experience.
  • College level tutoring and/or teaching experience.
Physical Demands
  • General office conditions. Exposed to moderate noise levels. Positions in this classification typically require: talking, hearing, and seeing.
  • Required to use close vision and be able to focus.
  • Regularly required to talk and hear; frequently required to sit, stand, and bend at the knee and waist, and walk.
  • Must be able to have repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement to type and work on computer.
  • Must have finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination to work on computer, telephone, and related office equipment.
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
  • Sedentary Work:
    Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

  • Monday–Thursday 9:00am – 6:00pm
  • Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm
