Required: Possession of a Bachelor's Degree and valid Missouri Teaching Certificate with proper certifications.
Preferred: Previous Experience.
PurposeTo assist students in the learning process for appropriate subject matter, skills and/or attitudes that will contribute to their development as responsible citizens and life‑long learners.
Essential Job Functions- Attend work in a regular, reliable and punctual manner.
- Telework when requested by the District.
- Adapt classroom work to provide instructional materials that address individualized learning plans within established lesson plans.
- Administer developmental testing programs, subject specific assessments, etc. to assess student competency levels and/or develop individual learning plans.
- Advise parents and/or legal guardians of student progress to communicate expectations, achievements, and methods for improvement or reinforcement of classroom goals.
- Assess student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals to provide feedback to students, parents and administration.
- Build positive teacher/student relationships to engage students in relevant activities based on student schema and interests.
- Collaborate with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents and community resources to improve overall student outcomes and achieve classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan.
- Collaborate with other teachers and support staff for implementing established curriculum and/or individual student plans.
- Demonstrate methods required to perform classroom and/or subject specific assignments to provide an effective program that addresses individual student requirements.
- Direct assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers and/or student workers to provide an effective classroom program and address the needs of individual students.
- Facilitate student learning to improve success in academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills through a defined course of study.
- Implement academic, behavior, health and nutrition plans (e.g., literacy activities, stories, songs, math/science activities, art, etc.) to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and encourage parent involvement.
- Manage student behavior to provide a safe and optimal learning environment.
- Monitor classroom environment to improve performance, health status, problem solving techniques and various personal issues.
- Monitor students in various educational environments (classroom, playground, field trips, school-sponsored activities, etc.) to maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
- Organize age‑appropriate indoor and outdoor activities to ensure student participation in learning activities.
- Participate in a variety of meetings to convey and/or gather necessary information.
- Perform other related duties assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
- Prepare written materials (grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) to document student progress and meet mandated requirements.
- Report incidents (fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, etc.) to maintain student safety and comply with education code and school policies.
- Respond to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns or direct to appropriate personnel.
- Respond to inquiries from various sources (other teachers, parents, administrators, etc.) to resolve issues and provide information.
- Serve as a positive role model demonstrating appropriate social and interpersonal behavior.
- Perform other duties assigned to serve student and staff needs.
