Supplemental Instruction Leader
In the Center for Academic Support (CAS), Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a series of weekly review sessions for students taking historically challenging courses. SI is provided for students who want to improve their understanding of course material and improve their grades. SI Leaders are students who have previously done well in the course and who plan and facilitate these review sessions each week.
Essential duties include attending all class meetings of the selected course, taking notes, and reading all assigned materials including texts and supplemental readings. Conduct three or four 50-minute study sessions per week throughout the term (depending on the course), using strategies learned in the SI Leader training workshop. Hold one office hour a week to plan SI sessions using a wide variety of learning strategies.
Participate in all required trainings, meetings, and session observations. Maintain ongoing communication with SI Supervisor and discuss problems or potential problems as needed.
Required qualifications include being a degree-seeking MoWest student, enrolled at least part-time, with at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA or above. Prior completion of the selected course with an A or B is required. Content-competency, as determined by recommendation from course faculty member, is also required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, as determined by SI Supervisor, are necessary. Federal work study qualification may be required.

Hearnes 213. Federal Work Study is not required. Hours of work are up to 10 hours per week, depending on need.
