Ranked Assistant Teaching Professor of Mechanical Engineering​/UMKC School of Science

Job Description

The Division of Energy, Matter, and Systems (EMS) in the School of Science and Engineering (SSE) at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) is seeking applications for a non-tenure-track teaching faculty position in Mechanical Engineering at the Assistant Teaching Professor level, to start in the Spring Semester 2027 (January 2027). Candidates with backgrounds and expertise in all areas of Mechanical Engineering are encouraged to apply.

Candidates with backgrounds and aspirations in teaching both basic and advanced Mechanical Engineering courses, particularly those with project-based approaches and laboratory-based courses, will be given preference.

The successful candidate is expected to:

Qualifications

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline as of the start date or possess an M.Sc. in a relevant field combined with substantial industry experience.

Candidates with backgrounds and expertise in instrumentation, thermal sciences, robotics, and controls are particularly encouraged to apply.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary is commensurate with credentials and experience. This is a nine-month, benefit-eligible, full-time (1.0 FTE) ranked faculty appointment eligible for promotion.
