Faculty – Early Childhood Education
This position is a full‑time faculty role at Jefferson College, responsible for teaching and supporting students in early childhood education.
Responsibilities- Be responsible to the Dean, Associate Dean, and/or instructional Program Director.
- Carry out the policies developed by the Board of Trustees as interpreted and executed by the administration.
- Teach classes assigned by the Dean, Associate Dean, and/or instructional Program Director.
- Successfully complete yearly teaching assignment.
- Maintain punctuality for scheduled classes.
- Prepare and file syllabi for new and revised courses, following established guides where applicable.
- Submit a list of required textbooks, readings, workbooks, or manuals for each course.
- Provide a bibliography of library books required for each course.
- Prepare requests for instructional materials and submit them for budget planning.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance and grades; submit to the Registrar.
- Attend faculty meetings and Commencement.
- Develop and maintain a 10‑hour weekly office‑hour schedule, including a minimum of eight onsite hours if online options are used.
- Obtain approval for the office‑hour schedule and provide a copy to the Dean.
- Serve on at least one institutional committee annually.
- Promote student participation in extracurricular activities.
- Be available for student advising at appropriate times.
- Meet and maintain all teacher certification requirements applicable in the state.
- Engage in professional improvement activities such as reading, study, and participation in professional organizations.
- Assist in keeping the public informed of the College’s progress and development.
- Utilize available test scores and records to understand student strengths and challenges.
- Cooperate with administration in conducting research.
- Commit time for collegial consultation, assessment, planning, and sanctioned meetings.
- Enforce College rules and regulations related to student conduct.
- Demonstrate teaching performance that adds value to the College, as documented in annual reviews.
- Perform other faculty‑related duties as assigned by higher administration.
Bachelor’s degree with major in the field and two years of full‑time college teaching experience along with one year of related full‑time work experience; OR bachelor’s degree with major in the field and four years of related full‑time work experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesCurrent LMS proficiency. Ability to use machines, tools, equipment, and software as required. Physical effort appropriate for the role.
Work ScheduleFull‑time, typical 35–40 hours per week including 15 hours of instruction and 10 hours of office hours.
