Field

Engineer – Operations Maintenance

This role provides mechanical, technical, and hands‑on maintenance support for process and production operations, with a primary focus on filling, packaging, anaerobe, and bioreactor operations.

Key responsibilities include troubleshooting, preventive maintenance execution, testing, repairing, modifying, and improving equipment, as well as training staff on the operation of production and utility equipment. The role also supports engineering activities related to design, estimating, proposing, and implementing electro‑mechanical projects.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintains production process equipment to support production schedules and quality requirements.
  • May include maintenance of additional operations equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and implements corrective action when equipment performance issues arise.
  • Identifies, determines, and seeks approvals for equipment upgrades that enhance performance and reliability.
  • Supports training of production and maintenance personnel on the care of electro‑mechanical equipment.
  • Assists engineering projects involving electro‑mechanical applications across design, scope, performance parameters, testing, and implementation.
  • Follows company policy and SOPs relating to financial, environmental health and safety, training, and other aspects of the position.
  • Coordinates with planners, schedulers, and supervisors to ensure adequate scheduling and timely completion of work orders.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by the manager to support operations.
  • Utilizes CMMS per SOP to ensure proper documentation of work and compliance with preventive maintenance requirements and timelines, including development of such requirements.
  • Keeps current on new technologies that impact equipment and self‑knowledge.
Requirements
  • High school diploma required; technical institute training and certification in mechanical manufacturing applications preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of mechanical maintenance and basic electrical experience with equipment common to biological, pharmaceutical, or food processing; technical institute training and certification is preferred.
  • Supervisory or crew/job project leadership experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with bio‑pharmaceutical production processes and equipment, including fermentation, bioreactor, autoclaves, pure steam, WFI, and associated biological production systems.
Additional Requirements
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Entry into the Medical Surveillance Program after hire.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • GMP gowning required.
  • Interpret PI&D drawings and schematics.
  • Trace electrical circuits, follow diagrams, and use circuit testers and related equipment.
  • Knowledge of various computer programs, including Microsoft Office and maintenance databases.
  • Hydraulic experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working in a team‑oriented environment.
  • High level of quality, attention to detail, and compliance with established procedures.
  • High level of technical knowledge related to production equipment and experience with control or management of compliance documentation.
Eligibility Requirements
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • Must be willing to take a drug test and a post‑offer physical if required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
