Obstetrics Technician

Obstetrics Technician – Part Time, Night Shift at New Beginnings
. Pay: $16.48 – $20.60 per hour. This role is supervised by the Director-OB/Pediatrics and is employed by Mosaic Health System.

Perform and function as a member of the OB team: pass instruments to the surgeon, assist during surgical procedures and vaginal deliveries, stock supplies, support nursery and OB nurses as needed, and perform vital signs.

• Assumes responsibility for setting up and passing instruments, holding retractors, and providing assistance to the surgeon while maintaining aseptic technique at all times.
• Assists in preparing OB operating rooms for procedures, securing required equipment and supplies, and maintaining knowledge of surgical instrumentation and equipment operation.
• Completes required sponge, needle, and instrument counts in accordance with policy and procedure; manages the location of contaminated instruments and supplies to prevent infection spread by using the case cart system.
• Handles and cares for surgical specimens per policy and procedure.
• Prepares the operating/birthing room for the next delivery by employing proper cleaning techniques, returning equipment to designated areas, and restocking supplies.

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required; completion of a surgical technologist education program preferred.
• BLS certification required upon hire.
• OB technologist experience preferred; a clinical rotation in a surgical technologist program is acceptable as preferred experience.
