Provides support and maintenance for City of Saint Joseph end user systems and equipment, including but not limited to Desktops, Laptops, Line of Business Applications, and the servers they run on.
Responsibilities- Responsible for maintenance of the City of Saint Joseph Technology Infrastructure including but not limited to:
Servers, Data Storage, Data Protection, Network Switching, Network Routing, Firewall Configuration, Wireless Networks, Fuel Systems, Surveillance Systems, Door Access Control, VOIP Phone Systems, Low Voltage Wiring, and Power Management Systems - Responsible for installation and maintenance of the City of Saint Joseph Technology Support Solutions including but not limited to:
Hypervisors, Data Protection, Multi-Form Authentication, VPN, System Imaging, System Monitoring and Management, Password Management, Video Conferencing, Website Hosting, Office
365, and Law Enforcement Vehicle Communications - Responsible for end user creation and support
- Ensures proper and consistent documentation of systems and solutions throughout the Technology Services Department
- Responsible for End User system imaging and deployment
- Assists with the monitoring of potential risks/opportunities of existing City of Saint Joseph technologies, and strives for continuous improvement
- Assists with the Emergency Operations Center when activated.
- Answers phones, maintains files. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- Must have a high degree of self-initiative and be able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks with independent decision-making
- Must possess excellent spelling, grammar, communication and decision-making skills
- Must have the ability to professionally handle large amounts of confidential personal and financial information
- Must be organized, able to multi-task and detail-oriented
- Must have the ability to read, comprehend, and utilize information obtained
- Knowledge of working with computer systems and standard software applications related to Information Technology
- Ability to understand advanced computer terminology and identify hardware and peripherals
- Potential candidates must pass a criminal background check and legal hiring processes. The City of Saint Joseph may disqualify an applicant if the position’s responsibilities are substantially related to the applicant’s criminal history.
Daily use of personal computers, phones, and other computer and printer equipment, and appropriate tools used in the maintenance and repair of computers.
Working Environment/Physical RequirementsThe majority of work is performed in a professional office setting and is generally sedentary. There will be some physical labor, moving equipment, pulling lines, etc. Must possess vision to read printed materials and a computer screen and to correspond via email; must possess hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the phone. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
EducationHigh School diploma required. Education or Experience equivalent to an Associate’s Degree or Higher in an information technology related field.
