This part-time position provides GIS, data management, and project tracking support for transportation safety, ADA compliance, and infrastructure initiatives, associated with the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program. The role is focused primarily on maintaining transportation datasets, developing maps and visualizations, and supporting project coordination. The position reports to the Deputy City Manager or their designee.
Transportation Data & GIS- Collect, organize, maintain, and analyze transportation datasets, including crash, traffic, pedestrian, bicycle, sidewalk, ADA, and roadway information
- Develop and maintain GIS maps, dashboards, and data visualizations to support transportation and infrastructure programs
- Assist with inventory development, condition assessment, and prioritization of sidewalk and pedestrian infrastructure improvements
- Support field data collection and verification for transportation and infrastructure projects
- Maintain project schedules and tracking systems for transportation safety, ADA compliance, and sidewalk improvement initiatives
- Assist with monitoring grant deliverables, milestones, and performance measures
- Support coordination among staff, consultants, and partner agencies
- Assist with preparation of technical memos, reports, and project summaries
- Prepare maps, graphics, and presentation materials for internal and public use
- Assist with documentation of meetings, workshops, and public engagement activities
- Maintain digital project files, databases, and records
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in transportation planning, geography, GIS, urban planning, engineering technology, or a related field; or equivalent combination of training and experience
- Experience using GIS software such as ArcGIS or similar platforms
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams)
- Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments
- Experience supporting transportation, public works, planning, or grant-funded programs
- Familiarity with transportation safety analysis or Safe System Approach principles
- Experience with infrastructure asset management, sidewalk inventories, or ADA transition planning
- Experience with data visualization platforms, dashboards, or survey tools
- Experience preparing public-facing maps, exhibits, or presentation graphics
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable working across technical and non-technical teams
- Able to translate data and technical information into clear visual and written materials
Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively - Interested in transportation safety, mobility, and public-sector infrastructure work
Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment, with occasional field visits and site reviews. Some evening meetings or public engagement events may be required.
Conditions of EmploymentThis is a grant-funded position. Continued employment is contingent upon the availability, renewal, or extension of external grant funding. In the event funding is reduced or exhausted, this position may be subject to modification or elimination.
