Instructional Technology Support Specialist

Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for an Instructional Technology Support Specialist on behalf of our client, a higher education institution. This is a remote, full-time, temp-to-hire opportunity for a faculty-focused educational technology professional with hands-on D2L Brightspace experience.

The Instructional Technology Support Specialist will provide day-to-day LMS support, help faculty use instructional technologies effectively, and create practical resources and training that strengthen online course delivery.

• Provide day-to-day support to faculty using D2L Brightspace and other educational technologies.
• Respond to faculty questions and troubleshoot course-level Brightspace issues.
• Guide faculty in using Brightspace tools that support teaching, learning, and course management.
• Lead individual consultations, office hours, workshops, and technology training for faculty.
• Create and update job aids, tutorials, FAQs, and other faculty support materials.
• Maintain the Faculty Success Hub and related knowledge-base content.
• Communicate LMS and educational technology updates, new features, known issues, and recommended practices.
• Build and maintain Brightspace courses using approved course design documentation.
• Configure groups, grade books, release conditions, completion settings, dates, and other course features.
• Escalate issues requiring additional technical or instructional expertise to the appropriate LMS administrator, instructional designer, IT team, or vendor.
• Collaborate with instructional designers and LMS administrators to address recurring faculty support needs.

• Bachelor’s degree in education, educational technology, instructional design, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Hands-on experience working in D2L Brightspace.
• Ability to independently navigate, build, maintain, and troubleshoot courses in Brightspace.
• Experience supporting faculty or other users with Brightspace questions and course-level issues.
• Experience configuring Brightspace groups, grade books, release conditions, completion settings, dates, and course settings.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to explain technology clearly to users with varying levels of technical experience.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and documentation skills.

• Experience supporting faculty in a higher education environment.
• Experience facilitating technology training, workshops, office hours, or individual consultations.
• Experience supporting third-party educational technologies integrated with an LMS.
• Familiarity with instructional design, online teaching practices, and digital accessibility.
• Experience maintaining a faculty resource hub, website, or knowledge base.

This position pays between $43-$45/hour plus a comprehensive benefits package.
