Role OverviewThe HVAC Truck Based Service Manager is responsible for service customer account leadership for the team’s customer base, including Labor and Material growth, service execution, and overall business performance. This role balances customer satisfaction, team leadership, and financial accountability to support profitable service delivery and a high-performing field organization.
Key Responsibilities- Lead service customer account management for the assigned customer base.
- Drive growth in Labor and Materials (L&M) work and Planned Services Agreements.
- Monitor gross margin delivery, profitability, and productivity across the service team.
- Manage customer relationship development, satisfaction, and service issue resolution.
- Oversee employee development, retention, hiring, training, and performance management.
- Support safety program compliance and maintain a strong safety culture.
- Review and approve L&M quotations and support warranty-related customer issues.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, accounts payable/receivable, and fleet and tools inventory.
- Maintain appropriate staffing levels to support existing business and new opportunities.
- Supervise and audit Technicians, Customer Service Agents, Team Leads, and other service delivery team members.
- Own outcomes with accountability by setting clear goals for gross margin, service growth, team performance, and safe execution.
- Stay close to the work by monitoring day-to-day service delivery, removing obstacles, and supporting technicians and customer-facing team members.
- Use disciplined financial follow-through to review quotations, manage forecasting, and track payables, receivables, and profitability.
- Build a strong team through coaching and development, including hiring, onboarding, training, performance reviews, and retention efforts.
- Improve every day by using audits, feedback, and problem-solving to strengthen consistency, service quality, and operational results.
- Win as one team by working across customers, field staff, and internal partners with trust, candor, and respect for diverse perspectives.
- Technical school training or equivalent experience in the HVAC or building controls industry.
- Three or more years of management experience in a similar service delivery environment.
- Strong ability to prioritize work activities, manage scheduling, and lead a diverse team.
- Strong interpersonal, customer service, and negotiating skills.
- Demonstrated competence in written and verbal communication.
- Basic financial accounting experience.
- Proficiency in MS Office products and a basic Windows environment.
- Nice to Have Diploma in Electronic or Mechanical Systems.
