BioMed Technician

The Biomedical Technician I works under the supervision of the Director. Performs installation, service, calibration, evaluation, documentation and preventive maintenance to general electronic, and low risk clinical electronic equipment including, but not limited to: diagnostic, therapeutic, and physiological monitoring equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.

• Performs installation, service, calibration, evaluation, safety inspection, documentation and preventive maintenance to a variety of general electronic and low risk clinical equipment. This is accomplished through use of manufacturer's specifications and service information, and established industry and regulatory safety standards. This equipment includes, but is not limited to: diagnostic, therapeutic, and monitoring equipment.
• Maintains current knowledge of applicable codes, policies, and regulations from governing organizations such as JCAHO, NFPA, OSHA, etc.
• Attends equipment service training classes as necessary.
• Provides accurate documentation of all work performed through work orders and updating of history files.
• Sets up preventive maintenance procedures as applicable.
• Orders parts or coordinates service as needed to complete repairs of equipment by consulting with the manufacturers’/vendors’ technical support staff as needed and adhering to established organizational purchasing policies.
• Services physicians and hospital staff on equipment operation.
• Actively participates in various cross‑functional work teams and committees.
• Readily assists BMET II, BMET III, and Radiology Equipment Specialists in performance of their duties.
• Other duties as assigned.
• On‑call rotation responsibilities to include after business hours equipment requests.
• Regional travel required for equipment requirements and troubleshooting.

• Associate's Degree – Electronics or Bio Medical; applicable military training; or equivalent work experience – Preferred
• Training in electronics, medical terminology, and/or mechanical applications – Preferred

• Familiarity of specialized test equipment and procedures common to a Biomedical department – Preferred
• Previous experience in medical electronics – Preferred

• Driver's License – Valid in state – Required upon hire

• Must be able to travel to various system facilities and off-site locations as needed – Required
