Oncology​/Surgical ICU Registered Nurse - Part Time

Overview

Division 7800 ICU is an Oncology designated 25‑bed Intensive Care Unit located on BJH North Campus in the Parkview Tower. The unit provides care to critically ill oncology and bone marrow transplant patients, as well as post‑surgical patients requiring ICU support. Care is coordinated by a multidisciplinary team including oncology nurses, physicians, advanced practice providers, case managers, social workers, pharmacists, and psycho‑social support staff.

Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of nursing standards.

• Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment.
• Educates patients and their families on illness or injury management, post‑treatment home care, and medication administration.
• Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Engages in professional development activities.
• Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals, collaborating with interprofessional team members and the patient, family, or caregiver.
• Ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
• Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care.
• Assesses patient preferences, barriers to involvement in care, and values, including emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population‑specific needs.
• Maintains constant state of alertness and operates safely, as required for a safety‑sensitive position.
