American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Long-Term Acute Care MS/Tele unit requiring MO or compact RN license and recent MS/Tele experience with high-acuity patients.
Details- Long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) setting on the MS/Tele unit
- Care for high-acuity patients including med-surg to intubated/trached and vent-dependent patients
- Common diagnoses include post-open heart surgery, cystic fibrosis, vent weaning, pulmonary fibrosis, and sepsis from wounds
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
- Self-scheduling available
- Float required to other units as needed
- Every third weekend required, totaling 8 weekend shifts per contract
- EPIC charting system used
- Active MO or compact RN license required, must be in hand prior to start (pending license accepted at submission)
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
- MS/Tele experience within the last year required
- BSN preferred
- Required certifications: BLS and NIHSS
- ACLS certification required
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- LTAC experience preferred
- EPIC charting experience preferred
- Skills needed include cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, complex wound care, tracheostomy care, NG tube management, foley catheter insertion, and Hoyer lift use
- Provide direct patient care for high-acuity LTACH patients requiring extended hospital stays before discharge to home, rehab, or skilled nursing facilities
- Work alongside ICU nurses who may float to the unit during periods of increased patient acuity
- Facility is a 352-bed Level II Trauma Center and Level II Stroke Center, and the only tertiary hospital between Kansas City and Omaha
- Local candidates accepted at a reduced pay rate
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the standard travel rate
- Previous employees must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year before returning as a travel nurse
