Quality Assurance Manager

Responsibilities

• Plans, coordinates and directs the food safety, quality assurance and sanitation programs designed to ensure that the plant and finished products conform to all customer, federal and state regulatory requirements
• Provides direct support, leadership and direction to QA supervision and sanitation staff in a 24‑hour facility
• Maintains and improves product quality by completing product and compliance audits and investigating consumer complaints
• Maintains the food safety aspect of the plant by periodically performing internal audits to verify adherence to procedures mandated by the company, state and federal agencies
• Ensures that all preventive measures outlined in the Food Safety Plan are executed, monitored, and reviewed, including corrective and preventative actions
• Provides support to R&D on projects as needed

• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field is strongly preferred (Food Science or Microbiology a plus)
• 8–10 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
• Minimum of 5+ years of management experience in Quality Assurance, Regulatory, Technical Services, R&D or a related food science field
• Strong statistical analysis and problem‑solving skills (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams)
• PCQI and/or HACCP certification is a plus
• Good knowledge of executing and maintaining a Quality Systems program
• Must have basic knowledge of federal, state and possibly local regulations and standards relating to Food Safety and Quality
