Account Manager, Retail Sales, Outside Sales
Smithfield Foods is seeking a motivated Sales Representative to introduce and promote our product lines, including bacon, ham, and fresh pork, across a defined territory.
Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive administrative support to the sales team by coordinating daily work, managing documentation, and ensuring timely communication with customers.
- Build and nurture long‑term relationships with existing customers by providing consistent support, understanding their evolving needs, and delivering tailored solutions that drive satisfaction and loyalty.
- Maintain clean, well‑stocked, and visually appealing product displays across all store locations; ensure samples are replenished and merchandising standards are upheld.
- Collaborate with Account Managers to track and analyze daily and weekly sales performance; update teams on promotional effectiveness to inform future planning and execution.
- Support the development and growth of sales accounts by managing key metrics, resolving customer complaints promptly, and ensuring that all store‑level initiatives are implemented effectively.
- Travel throughout the assigned territory to engage with current and prospective customers, present product offerings using samples or catalogs, and highlight key features that align with customer needs.
- Visit manufacturing facilities to strengthen product knowledge, manage trade spend, and support accurate forecasting.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four‑year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to deliver clear presentations and build effective working relationships across teams and with customers.
- Problem‑solving ability, managing sales accounts, resolving customer issues, and making sound decisions in a fast‑paced environment while meeting or exceeding performance metrics.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; local travel up to 80% of the time is expected.
- Experience using sales‑related software tools for reporting, planning, and communication is preferred.
Capabilities to sit for extended periods of time; occasionally lift objects weighing 25–50 lbs; stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to travel as needed.
