Position OverviewCummings Keegan is hiring a Tax Manager to work onsite in our St. Louis Park, Minnesota office. As a member of department leadership, the Tax Manager position is responsible for supervising staff, overseeing client assignments and projects, and providing exceptional service to our privately‑held business clients. This position ensures efficient and high‑quality client service by demonstrating advanced technical skills and client relationship management best practices.

The essential functions of the Manager position are performed with guidance from the Tax Partner. This role works collaboratively with each member of the management team to provide supervision, training, and performance coaching to support an inclusive and accountable professional services environment.
Position responsibilities include:
- Assigning, supervising, and reviewing complex tax engagements.
- Resolving complex IRS and state tax notices, audits, and tax disputes.
- Preparing and reviewing complex federal and multi‑state tax returns.
- Managing client relationships and assisting with escalated client concerns.
- Mentoring staff on compliance, advisory skills, tax planning and deliverables.
- Serving as client relationship manager and providing advisory services to high‑net‑worth individual, partnership, corporation, and owner‑managed business clients.
- Performing in depth research to formulate strategies and prepare and review deliverables.
- Attending and representing the firm at community events, firm functions, and conferences.
- Disseminating knowledge of changes to standards throughout the firm as appropriate.
- Conducting performance evaluations to ensure accountability and skill development.
- Building referrals, generating new service opportunities, and business development.
- Participating in interviewing candidates and onboarding new staff.
- Completing timely and accurate billing.
- CPA license required.
- Supervisory and client relationship management experience required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and seven (7) years experience in public accounting firm.
- Demonstrated technical expertise preparing and reviewing individual, corporate, partnership, and trust returns.
- Experience leading and contributing to a system and continuous process improvement.
