At HDR, we are an employee‑owned company that fosters a culture of inclusion and values each individual's authentic contributions. Our architecture practice seeks an Associate Civic Principal to drive civic projects across the Great Plains region.

Role Summary

As Associate Civic Principal, you will guide the direction of the civic sector in the local region, develop a client base, and contribute to the growth of the Civic Team.

Responsibilities
  • Lead business development activities, including pursuing and managing new client opportunities.
  • Assist the local Civic Principal in achieving net fees booked goals.
  • Create and lead capture plans, qualifications, and proposals for civic clients.
  • Develop interview strategies and implement them.
  • Use internal HDR marketing processes—GNG, fee development/approval, risk awareness, and data maintenance.
  • Serve as project manager or other appropriate roles, preparing and negotiating contracts.
  • Maintain project oversight to ensure technical quality, financial performance, and schedule adherence.
  • Engage clients proactively, keeping regular communication.
  • Provide mentorship and support to health staff and project teams.
  • Develop abstracts and presentations for conferences and industry events to promote sector messages.
  • Cultivate an industry partner network for intelligence gathering and strategic development.
  • Participate in local industry organizations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 7 years of related experience.
  • Minimum 2 years project management experience.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to collaborate with design teams.
