Senior Communications Coordinator - (190414)

HDR is seeking a Senior Strategic Communications Coordinator to join our growing program and lead engagement efforts for transportation and water projects across Minnesota. We’re looking for an experienced communications professional passionate about strategic communications and stakeholder engagement—particularly in these industries.

HDR is a collective of employee-owners focused on inclusion, innovation, and delivering impact. You’ll collaborate with HDR project managers and technical staff to translate technical concepts into clear, accessible content for diverse audiences and contribute to an industry-leading practice of more than 200 communication consultants across North America.

Responsibilities
  • Build strong relationships with clients and understand their priorities; develop tailored engagement strategies to drive meaningful involvement.
  • Collaborate with HDR project managers and technical staff to translate technical concepts into clear, accessible content for diverse audiences.
  • Manage projects and build relationships with HDR’s largest clients, focusing on transportation, construction communications, planning/studies, wastewater, drinking water, and water resources.
  • Lead engagement efforts for transportation and water projects across Minnesota as part of HDR’s Water Business Group.
  • Contribute to an industry-leading practice of more than 200 communication consultants across North America, delivering strategic communications services that strengthen clients’ messaging and engagement strategies.
Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the architecture and engineering consulting industry
  • Previous experience working in the transportation, wastewater, drinking water and/or water resources industries
  • Previous consulting or account management experience preferred
  • Preference given to local candidates
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds without assistance
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in person, by telephone, and via email
  • Must be able to independently get yourself to meetings and events

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 8 years relevant industry experience
  • Experience leading social media campaigns
  • Service- and client-oriented personality with the ability to handle multiple assignments at a time and set and meet deadlines
  • Self-starter; can work well independently or in a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
