Summary Of Core Responsibilities & Org Relationships :

During the summer, we are pleased to offer students from the community a tailored, high-quality educational experience. Instruction at Groves is explicit, structured, and multi-modal. Teachers combine their experience and expertise with care and understanding, using a diagnostic-prescriptive approach to continually assess and address individual student needs.

Our summer programs employ our proven philosophy of developing strengths and talents, remediating academic weaknesses, and tailoring instruction to meet individual needs. We offer programs for children entering grades 2-8 who have learning and/or attention disorders, such as dyslexia and ADHD.

Summer Program Student Assistants support faculty in the classroom during summer programming. Each Student Assistant will be assigned 3 classrooms and will check in frequently or be readily available to assist where needed.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding children as a priority
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Education, Experience, and Credentials

  • High School Graduate

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated interest or experience in working with students with learning disabilities such as dyslexia and ADHD
  • Working knowledge of positive reinforcement and positive behavior supports
  • Ability to follow directions and use office equipment efficiently
  • Ability to keep information regarding the students including names, performance, disabilities, etc. confidential

Physical Requirements Necessary to Perform This Job

Incumbent must be able to:

  • Hear, speak, and effectively communicate in the English language, including following oral and written instructions, in order to communicate with people inside and outside the organization
  • Sit or stand at a desk for extended periods of time and perform long hours of work sitting at a computer and in meetings
  • Apply manual dexterity and visual acuity for computer keyboarding and office equipment use, and review detailed reports and information
  • Move around the school and office or classroom area repeatedly or prolonged times throughout the day.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including attending and presenting at events and meetings that occur outside of typical work hours as required/scheduled

Tools and Equipment Used

  • Must be able to use computers, telephones, photocopiers, and related office equipment
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 10-35 pounds occasionally depending on your position
  • The work environment is indoors.
  • May occasionally participate in indoor or outdoor off-site student activities for field trips, recess, etc.
