SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide academic and social skills instruction to children 33-48 months old in a 1/2 day preschool setting. Create learning opportunities and classroom environments that are multicultural/gender favorable to learning & growth based on a commitment that all children can learn.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Design and implement culturally relevant, differentiated instruction for preschool children.
- Collaborate with peers to develop best practices for the needs and abilities of the children.
- Conduct class assessments to determine learning priorities and outcomes for children.
- Provide instructional leadership to other support staff and classroom volunteers within the classroom.
- Create rapport with children and parents.
- Collaborate with educational professionals and administrators regarding the needs of children and families, instructional support, standards, and instructional technologies.
- Team and plan with teachers and classroom assistants.
- Participate in ongoing and regular staff, team, and individual professional development.
- Knowledge of practices, techniques, and fundamentals of child care programming and services, teaching principles, techniques, and procedures.
- Knowledge of child development theories and development stages and needs.
- Knowledge of District academic curriculum requirements.
- Fundamentals of work coordination and delegation.
- Knowledge of relevant laws, rules, regulations, or guidelines pertaining to childcare programs, operations, and safety requirements.
- Knowledge of Kid’s Place program operational policies and procedures of the District.
- Knowledge of behavioral management practices and fundamentals.
- Assigning work, leading, and coordinating work activities and priorities of classroom support personnel.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Supervising groups of children in accordance with behavioral guidelines and rules to ensure an appropriate environment and the safety of participants and staff.
- Planning and implementing site activities in accordance with program themes, field trips, and academic subject activities.
- Implementing behavioral management practices.
- Updating and preparing site files, records, and reports in accordance with department requirements.
- Dealing with children, staff, parents, administrators, and building personnel concerning issues and activities.
- Interactions require the explanation of program operational rules and working with others to gain cooperation and understanding of educational issues/needs.
- Must be fluent in Spanish and English.
