MN/WI Substation Business Class Leader

HDR Engineering is looking for an Area Substation Business Class Leader to join our nationally ranked Power Delivery team. The ABCL reports to Area Operations Leadership and the Global Substation Business Class Lead, focusing on technical excellence and project delivery within their region.

• Staff development and mentorship, including technical onboarding and training delivery.
• Participation in internal and external technical working groups.
• Lead the implementation of technical standards, guidelines, tools, and best practices within the Area.
• Facilitate project-level lessons learned meetings or workshops.
• Identify project delivery team requirements (experience, expertise, availability) for critical projects.
• Partner with Area Leadership on recruitment, retention, and staffing of technical and delivery staff.
• Support local area/region in Go/No-Go decisions, proposal development, and strategic pursuits within the Substation Business Class.
• Lead proposal technical reviews.
• Drive HDR’s Quality Processes and Procedures, including business class specific enhancements and Project Approach and Resource Review (PARR) meetings.
• Achieve a 70% to 75% utilization goal by actively leading or supporting projects.

• Active participant in ongoing internal and external technical working groups.
• Subject matter expert or strong knowledge of a variety of substation design concepts.
• Experience designing and/or reviewing Substation Design packages.
• Experience mentoring and coordinating workshare across multiple area offices.
• Strong knowledge of best practices, industry standards, and codes related to Substation Design.
• General knowledge and experience with substation design software.
• Knowledge and experience aligned with Area and Regional clients, stakeholders, and industry standards/committees.

• Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field.
• 10 years of experience.
• Commitment to quality, improvement, and HDR values.
• Maintains a professional or engineering registration and has related technical experience.
• Experience in development and management of diverse teams.
• Cooperative working with other area business class leaders, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers.
• Active participation in our employee‑owned culture is a must.
