Structural Team Lead – St. Louis Park, MN
HDR’s Building Engineering Services Group is seeking a Structural Team Lead to supervise a team of structural engineers, EITs, and designers in St. Louis Park, MN. The role focuses on technical leadership, project delivery, and team development within a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities- Directly supervise a structural engineering team and support the Structural Area Business Class Lead in team management and culture.
- Collaborate with fellow Team Leads and the Area Business Class Lead for staffing and project proposals.
- Lead technical excellence, quality control, recruitment, mentoring, and staff development.
- Collaborate with structural market sector leaders to maintain technical excellence across key markets, including commercial, civic, industrial, federal, water, transportation, healthcare, education, laboratories, and mission‑critical facilities.
- Serve as design lead or engineering project manager for key projects.
- Implement and monitor company policies and encourage best practices within the structural practice.
- Assist in recruitment and growth of the Structural Business Class.
- Work with architects, discipline leads, and project teams to develop designs, move projects forward, and mentor EITs.
- Coordinate design development and contract documentation phases, including site visits and construction administration.
- Prepare and review structural specifications, procedures, material selections, sizing, and calculations.
- Ensure compliance with governing codes and industry standards.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- Master’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering with a structural emphasis.
- Experience leading diverse engineering teams.
- Preference for local candidates.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
- Professional registration, license, or certification may be required.
- Strong communication and listening skills.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments.
- Excellent leadership and organizational skills.
- A commitment to active participation in HDR’s employee‑owned culture.
