Engineering Principal

Responsibilities

• Lead design and engineering of Building Engineering Services projects, from conception through execution.
• Develop detailed scope, schedule, and fee proposals, communicating with operational leadership to align staffing, expertise, and business needs.
• Drive business development by identifying opportunities, building relationships, and representing BES to internal and external clients.
• Facilitate cross‑discipline teamwork, ensuring design quality, schedule adherence, and budget respect.
• Protect client relationships, manage expectations, and communicate concerns to project management.
• Mentor junior staff and develop future leadership within HDR.
• Identify gaps in expertise, recommend training or hiring, and advocate for necessary resources.
• Represent HDR in professional and community activities, including speaking engagements and industry boards.
• Participate in strategy, visioning sessions, and regular meetings with Area BG Management.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of 20 years of experience in engineering, with extensive project execution experience.
• Professional engineering license recognized by the local licensing board (e.g., PE, P.Eng).
• Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office and standard design software.
• Strong technical expertise in engineering analysis and design.
• Demonstrated leadership, communication, and business development abilities.
