Job Summary
If you excel in land acquisition, negotiations, and navigating challenging conversations with landowners, this is the role for you! As a Senior Right of Way Agent, you’ll lead intricate projects in transportation, utilities, and infrastructure. You'll not only support initiatives but actively drive progress. Your responsibilities will include negotiating agreements, guiding project teams, and liaising with clients, placing you at the strategic intersection of expertise and relationship management.
You’ll be pivotal in ensuring projects advance efficiently, legally, and with a strong emphasis on fairness and communication.
What You'll Do- Lead & Deliver
Act as the primary Right of Way resource on projects, directing strategy, execution, and team collaboration. Manage projects involving land acquisition, easements, permits, and property agreements. Work closely with project managers, engineers, surveyors, and clients to ensure project alignment.
- Negotiate & Acquire
Lead negotiations with property owners for easements, access agreements, leases, and acquisitions. Prepare and present offer packages and recommendations for condemnation, when required. Collaborate with legal counsel to resolve intricate right of way and land-related challenges.
- Analyze & Advise
Interpret deeds, titles, easements, and other relevant land documents. Conduct title research, field inspections, and site assessments. Provide insights on routing, site impacts, and cost-effective solutions in line with project requirements.
- Engage & Represent
Represent projects at public meetings, hearings, and stakeholder discussions. Build robust relationships with landowners, agencies, and community stakeholders. Approach sensitive discussions with professionalism and patience.
- Coordinate & Support
Assist in the management of ROW budgets, identifying risks, and planning projects. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve land-related issues. Keep accurate records, documentation, and project files.
- Required:
High School Diploma;
Minimum of 5+ years of right of way experience (land acquisition, title research, AEC project support);
Active real estate license or relevant professional certification;
Strong understanding of right of way processes, land acquisition, and regulatory standards.
- Preferred:
Associate's Degree or higher in a related field;
Experience supporting infrastructure, utility, or transportation initiatives;
Familiarity with permits, crossing agreements, and utility coordination;
Background working with state Departments of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). right of way projects;
Experience assisting with transmission line or linear utility projects.
- You are confident in leading negotiations and know the right moments to assert or adapt your approach.
- You communicate complex land and legal concepts clearly and effectively.
- You are organized, detail-oriented, and adept at managing multiple projects.
- You quickly build trust with clients, landowners, and internal teams.
- You are equally comfortable in the field and at your desk reviewing documents.
This position involves a combination of office and field work (approximate 70/30 split) and may require occasional travel based on project needs. Candidates should be able to navigate field environments, including uneven terrain.

The salary for this position is anticipated to range between $75,000 - $105,000, with factors such as education, experience, job location, competencies related to the role, and internal equity influencing actual compensation.
