Summer Civil Engineer Intern- Renewables

The Opportunity

Ulteig is seeking Civil Engineer Interns to join our Renewables team, supporting the design and development of utility-scale solar, wind, and battery energy storage (BESS) projects. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in engineering design while working under the close guidance of experienced professionals. Interns receive detailed instruction, clear expectations, and the chance to contribute to real‑world projects that support the energy transition.

• Assist in the design and preparation of development and construction plans for large-scale wind, solar, and BESS renewable energy projects
• Work collaboratively with engineers and technicians across disciplines on multiple active projects
• Learn and apply AutoCAD Civil 3D for site design and plan production
• Support the preparation of design deliverables, including plans, reports, and permit documentation
• Participate in the development of permitting applications for local, state, and federal review
• Gain exposure to regulatory frameworks and standards relevant to civil design in the renewable energy sector
• Perform engineering calculations, develop standard details, and assist in the preparation of technical drawings
• May assist in field visits to support data collection or site assessments, depending on project needs

• Practical experience applying classroom knowledge to engineering design in the renewables industry
• Exposure to the consulting engineering environment and cross‑disciplinary collaboration
• Mentorship from industry professionals
• Familiarity with project life cycles, permitting processes, and regulatory considerations
• A deeper understanding of the civil challenges in sustainable energy projects

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering, with at least two years of coursework completed by Summer 2027
• Prior experience or coursework in AutoCAD Civil 3D software design is a plus
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Must be able to work full‑time during Summer 2027
• Potential to continue internship through the school year based on performance and business needs
• Must have authorization to work permanently in the U.S.
