Registered Nurse – Hospice

Park Nicollet is looking to hire a Registered Nurse to join our Hospice team. Come join us as a Partner for Good and help us make an impact on the care and experience that our patients and their families receive every day.

Position Summary

The Hospice registered nurse assesses and evaluates patient care needs, provides skilled nursing care and teaching to patients and families in their home or community based upon community standards of practice. The nurse is responsible for improving or maintaining patients’ health status, providing terminal illness care, and preparing patients and their families for self‑directed and/or assisted care in their community setting.

The nurse coordinates medical, social, and financial resources to develop a comprehensive plan of care and supports the following community care processes: admission, discharge, billing, referrals, bereavement, and care delivery.

Work Schedule

Night On‑Call position. Shift: 4:30 pm–12:00 am, then on‑call 12:00 am–8:00 am. Must pick up a minimum of 2 shifts/month if available.

Required Qualifications
  • Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination: Baccalaureate degree in Nursing;
    Work experience as an RN for at least two years.
  • Licensure / Registration / Certification: Current license to practice as a professional nurse in Minnesota.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Able to function independently with minimal supervision; high level of sensitivity, assessment skills, technical skills, and communication skills; demonstrates initiative, judgment, critical thinking, and problem‑solving ability; demonstrates knowledge of age‑related growth and development principles necessary to provide appropriate service and assure patient safety.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination: Experience in hospice desirable; must be able to function independently with minimal supervision; high level of sensitivity, assessment skills, technical skills and communications skills; demonstrates initiative, judgment, critical thinking, and the ability to problem solve.
