Kforce has a client that is seeking an Accounting Assistant in Saint Louis, MO.
Summary:
The Accounting Assistant supports the day-to-day accounting operations by performing bank reconciliations, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting with general accounting tasks. This role works closely with the accounting team to ensure transactions are properly recorded and financial data is timely, accurate, and compliant with company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations; identify and resolve discrepancies
- Assist with general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and account reconciliations
- Support month-end and year-end close processes
- Process and review accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, as needed
- Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
- Assist with cash management and transaction coding
- Reconcile credit card and other subsidiary accounts
- Prepare reports and schedules for management and auditors
- Support audits by gathering documentation and responding to requests
- Assist with ad hoc accounting and administrative projects
- 1-3 years of accounting or accounting assistant experience
- Hands‑on experience with bank reconciliations
- General knowledge of accounting principles and processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Strong organizational and time‑management abilities
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- High level of confidentiality and professionalism
- Experience with ERP or accounting systems
- Experience in a multi‑entity or high‑transaction environment
- Healthcare, professional services, or corporate accounting background a plus
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
