Colibri Group is currently seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to join our tax team. The ideal candidate will have sales and use tax experience and preferably 2-3 years of industry or public accounting experience. In this role, you will be responsible for the filing of sales and use tax returns for multiple entities, including preparation as well as analysis of the returns through our sales tax software, Avalara.
Additionally, this individual will be responsible for the filing of property tax returns and maintaining business licenses, annual reports, etc. There will also be opportunities to support other areas of tax such as domestic and international income tax, as well as tax accounting (ASC
740), but prior experience in these areas is not required.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation, filing, and administration of tax returns, which include sales and use tax, property tax, etc.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation, filing, and administration of business licenses and annual reports.
- Prepare monthly sales tax reconciliations and other month-end duties to support the accounting function.
- Manage state notices and correspondence with federal and state taxing authorities.
- Assist with federal and state tax audits, as needed.
- Perform tax research and stay informed of latest tax law changes and industry trends.
- Communicate and problem-solve tax-related items with other departments and members of the business.
- Coordinate and work with outside service providers, as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
- 2-3 years of tax experience in either public accounting or industry
- CPA or plan to pursue CPA
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner
- Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks
- Ability to prioritize and organize effectively
- Ability to use computer and software applications (i.e. word processing, spreadsheet, etc.)
- Ability to work independently
