We are seeking a Senior Accountant to work at our corporate office in St. Louis, MO. This critical position will report to the Director of Accounting and Finance and will be responsible for performing complex accounting activities, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. This role plays a key part in financial reporting, account analysis, process improvements, and compliance with established accounting standards.
The Senior Accountant will collaborate closely with internal departments to provide financial insights and maintain strong internal controls.
- Lead month-end and year-end close activities, including preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting schedules.
- Analyze general ledger accounts to identify discrepancies, trends, and opportunities for process improvements.
- Prepare and review balance sheets and income statements to support internal and external reporting requirements.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes by providing timely and accurate financial data.
- Review, reconcile, and analyze key accounts such as accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, leases, and intercompany transactions.
- Analyze and adopt new accounting standards, ensuring timely implementation and compliance across financial reporting and processes.
- Manage real estate and personal property tax filings, assessments, payments, and maintain compliance with required government censuses.
- Assist in the preparation of audit documentation and serve as a point of contact for external auditors.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls to ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.
- Support the development and implementation of new accounting processes, system enhancements, and reporting tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting issues and provide financial guidance.
- Assist with special projects and ad-hoc analysis as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
ExperienceAt least five years of experience in an accounting or finance position preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Skills + KnowledgeStrong understanding of GAAP and internal control principles. Proficiency with ERP systems (Microsoft D365 preferred) and advanced Excel skills. Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail. Excellent organizational, time‑management, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment. High level of integrity and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
