We are searching for an experienced Payroll Accountant at our Tarlton HQ facility.

Key Responsibilities Primary Duties and Responsibilities

This role is responsible for administering payroll for both union and non-union employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and full compliance with applicable laws, organizational policies, and collective bargaining agreements. The position supports all aspects of payroll processing, including compensation, benefits-related payments, tax reporting, account reconciliation, and required reporting.

The ideal candidate operates with strong attention to detail, maintains strict confidentiality, and consistently delivers high-quality work in a deadline-driven environment.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while supporting the organization’s financial integrity and compliance obligations.

Essential Activities
  • Process union, non-union, hourly and salary payroll on a weekly basis including preparation of payroll and labor reports.
  • Administer vacation and PTO accruals and track employee usage.
  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly health and welfare reports; complete certified payroll reporting as required.
  • Produce payroll tax filings (weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual), process tax payments, prepare W-2s, and manage 401(k) uploads.
  • Maintain union labor rate templates and coordinate union audits when necessary.
  • Support benefits administration by reconciling monthly vendor invoices in partnership with HR.
  • Contribute to Finance initiatives and perform other related duties as assigned.

Partnership with Finance and HR, Union Representatives, External Auditors. The individual will also have regular contact with employees when they have questions and when there is a change in status.

Experience & Skills Required
  • High school education; associate or bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
  • Two years previous payroll experience; union payroll preferred.
  • Ability to understand labor contracts, labor laws, and regulations.
  • Knowledge of payroll tax regulations and reporting.
  • Use of Microsoft products—strong Excel skills; payroll system experience;
    Viewpoint preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Effort
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. If required, the employee may be in a trailer at a jobsite location or maintain an office at the Owner’s facility.
  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five pounds.
  • Limited exposure to physical risk.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop or kneel. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
