Position Summary:

The Accountant is a full-time, salaried position with benefits that plays a vital role in supporting the financial health and operational success of the organization. This position is responsible for a broad range of accounting and financial activities, including accounts payable, account reconciliations, month-end close, payroll support, fixed asset management, financial reporting, and compliance-related reporting.

As a key member of the Finance team, the Accountant helps ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information while demonstrating exceptional stewardship of public resources and taxpayer investments. This role collaborates with departments across the organization to support informed decision-making, maintain strong internal controls, and identify opportunities to improve financial processes and systems.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, a commitment to accuracy, and a collaborative approach that supports the organization's mission, vision, and values.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Perform a broad range of accounting functions, including accounts payable, cash receipts, account reconciliations, journal entries, and maintenance of supporting schedules for multiple entities.
  • Review, code, and process vendor invoices, employee expense reimbursements, credit card transactions, recurring payments, and ACH transactions in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Manage accounts payable operations, including procurement and encumbrance tracking, and support bi-weekly payment processing.
  • Process and accurately record cash receipts, deposits, grants, contributions, and electronic payment activity.
  • Maintain the fixed asset ledger, record related transactions, and perform periodic reconciliations.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
  • Participate in monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities to support timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial reports, analyses, and other information to support management, Board, and operational decision-making.
  • Support annual audit activities, tax filings, regulatory reporting, and other compliance requirements, including 1099 reporting and sales tax filings.
  • Maintain financial records and documentation in accordance with applicable accounting standards, internal controls, and organizational policies.
  • Serve as a backup for payroll processing and assist employees with payroll-related questions as needed.
