Looking to launch or grow your accounting career in commercial real estate? A well-established and employee-owned real estate company is seeking a Property Accountant to join its St. Louis team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Accounting graduate with a property accounting internship or an accounting professional with 1-2 years of experience who is eager to build a long-term career in real estate accounting.
You'll work closely with experienced accounting and property management professionals while gaining exposure to financial reporting, month-end close, budgeting, and property operations.
What You’ll Do- Prepare monthly financial statements and reporting packages for assigned properties.
- Assist with month-end close, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Reconcile bank accounts and general ledger accounts.
- Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, and tenant billings.
- Assist with common area maintenance (CAM) and real estate tax reconciliations.
- Monitor cash activity and prepare deposits and cash reports.
- Partner with property managers and the accounting team on budgeting, reporting, and special projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1+ years of accounting experience, or a recent Accounting graduate with a property accounting, real estate, or corporate accounting internship.
- Understanding of basic accounting principles and financial statements.
- Experience with MRI, Yardi, or other accounting software is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and willingness to learn.
